Our product, cPanel & WHM, is the standard for control panels in the web hosting. It is the most commonly used commerical control panel in the United States
Who is cPanel for?
cPanel & WHM is a complete automation solution for web hosting. It can be used out of the box by someone with little to no exxperience with web hosting or server
management. Howerver, the advanced features allow a server guru to configure and customize
cPanel is used by both large and small companies. Larger customers will be assigned to an Account Manager, but everyone with a valid license has access to
our top-notch customer service and technical support.
What does cPanel do?
cPanel & WHM is a complete automation solution for web hosting
But what does that mean?
It means that our software takes most of the work out of managing a server
But what does cPanel do?
Our end-user interface allows customers to handle many of their own common tasks like creating email accounts and uploading
files. This frees up time for the person in charge of the server
Our administrative interface make many typically complicated and time-consuming tasks as easy a selecting a checkbox, or clicking through a wizard
What does cPanel require?
cPanel & WHM runs on RPM-based Linux distributions.
We officially support:
RedHat, CentOS, CloudLinux, Amazon Web Services.

cPanel & WHM runs on ports 2083 (cPanel) and 2087 (WHM)
Note: You can log in even when the Apache service is down
cPanel & WHM has a clean and easy-to-use interface
cPanel & WHM is designed for managing websites and offering shared hosting. It can be used for many different people with many
different needs, but it is not the solution for every server-related task
cPanel & WHM runs on serveral flavors of Linux. It does not run Microsoft Windows.
Therefor, it is not the best platform for attempting to duplicate services provided by Microsoft Exchange and cannot supply other Microsoft
proprietary services, like SharePoint Hosting.
cPanel & WHM is designed for managing websites and offering shared hosting as a single server solution
It cannot be used to control multiple servers - it can be used on a VPS, but not to control a server hosting VPSes.
While cPanel will play well as a target for Puppet and as a github client, it is not a DeveOps software solution and cannot manage Puppet, Chef, GitHub
or other DeveOps software.
Limitations of cPanel
cPanel & WHM is designed for managing websites and offering shared webhosting. It is not an ideal solution for applications
that do not require a website, databases, or email.
Large applications that require a lot of memory and CPU generally should be hosted on servers without a control
panel to allow the application itseft to consume all the servers resources.
cPanel & WHM is designed for managing public websites and offering share webhosting accessible to the world.
It requires a public IP address and is therefore not the best solution for an internal (LAN)
webserver (or for a file server or printer server)
cPanel & WHM is designed for managing websites and offering shared webhosting. It does not to do load balancing. It can send a reasonable amount of mail
but is not designed for email blasts with millions of messages
A strength of cPanel is that there are many plugins that extend the functionality of the core product. An example is the Nginx plugin.
Please do note that cPanel's superior support is only available for our core product and not for plugins
